Background

Thaddeus Rex's WRITE LIKE A ROCK STAR Contest was inspired by Lauren Walton, a 4th grader in Lafayette, IN who's poem, 'Frog', impressed Thaddeus so much he put it to music and recorded it for his CD, 'We Wanna Rock'. Now Lauren's a professional songwriter and earns royalty payments each time the song is played on the radio or purchased on CD. The whole process inspired Thaddeus to create this writing contest to give other children a chance to join the writing process.

Nickie Cashdollar, a 3rd grader from Dubuque, IA became the next child to won the first annual 'WRITE LIKE A ROCK STAR' contest in April 2007. Her poem 'The Flowing Stream that Never Stops' will be appearing on Thaddeus Rex's newest CD, due to hit stores in March, 2008.
